There is so much to learn at the Living Coast Discovery Center!

The Living Coast Discovery Center offers a unique experience when it comes to aquariums. The discovery center focuses on more than just sea creatures. You will encounter many birds such as falcons, hawks, eagles, and owls; you may even run into a keeper with a bird perched on their arm! After you’ve taken a look at the birds, you can check out some rays and sharks at the Shark and Ray Experience, visit Shorebird Aviary, pass by Turtle Lagoon, walk on some nature trails and of course; visit the aquarium! Swing by the Living Coast Discovery Center when you visit San Diego!

Exhibits

Living Coast Discovery Center offers an incredibly unique experience as they offer so many different exhibits and experiences. Although Southern California is home to a beautifully diverse number of aquatic creatures- there is just as much beauty on land and in the sky which Living Coast Discovery Center aims to call attention to. Below I’ve added a list of the exhibits with more information about their most popular attractions.

  • Shark and Ray Experience
  • Turtle Lagoon
  • Raptor Row
  • Aquarium
  • Shorebird Aviary
  • Eagle Mesa
  • Native Pollinator Garden
  • Compost Garden
  • Walking Trails

Shark and Ray Experience

Ready to get up close to some sharks and rays? These beautiful creatures are friendly, and visitors are encouraged to get hand-on at the interactive tide pools. You will see leopard sharks, guitarfish, and bat-rays.

Turtle Lagoon

Turtle Lagoon is home to many beautiful Atlantic Sea Turtles, and Emerald acts as ambassador for all the sea turtles at the Discovery center. You won’t be able to feed or pet the turtles but it’s just as great to stop and watch the turtles swim by.

Raptor Row

Living Coast is home to more than just aquatic creatures! Many falcons, eagles, and owls call the discovery center their home and you will likely run into a keeper with a bird on their arm!
